Darius Frowner
Musical Director
Darius grew up in Northern New Jersey, and excelled at music and leadership at an early age. He was playing piano for the chorus by sixth grade, and later performed with the Bergenfield High School Marching Band and Concert Choir. His outstanding playing led to several performances at the Apollo Theater with a group he formed, and opportunities to perform at esteemed events, even before his professional pursuits began.
He attended Rutgers University in New Brunswick NJ. Darius returned in later years to his local theater, the John Harms Center in Englewood (now Bergen PAC) to become musical supervisor of the Performing Arts School for children for many seasons. Darius has been an adjunct artist at NYU and The New School.
In addition to musical direction, Darius performs as a pianist for many private events including parties given by Diane Von Furstenberg and Whoopi Goldberg. He has performed at the United Nations, and appeared many times with Joan Rivers. Darius’ musical style includes pop, standards, R&B and musical theater.
On the cabaret scene, Darius is a mainstay at New York’s oldest continuing Cabaret The Duplex on Monday and Thursday nights. There is an open mic for professionals and anyone who loves to sing, attracting locals and tourists from around the world. On any given night performers from Broadway shows like Rent, The Lion King and Beauty and The Beast may stop in and sing with Darius.
Darius has formed his own company, DBF Entertainment to provide music for events and parties, and utilizes his talent and that of others to add dynamic musical entertainment to please audiences throughout the New York area.
